This competency  focuses on demonstrating the skills necessary to understand and participate in the public policy process. Understanding how  policies are put in place and why they are implemented is the first step in becoming part of the policy process.

Analytical Methods

This competency focuses on analyzing public policies, critical thinking, and problem-solving. Being able to understand how organizations function and determine what needs to be done to make them more effective and efficient is an important factor in public administration

Public Service

This competency looks at public policies through the lens of the public. Understanding how policies and organizations affect communities and prioritizing the public's well well-being should be an organization's and public administrator's main goal.

Communication

This competency focuses on being able to effectively communicate with the public and other stakeholders. An organization and public administrators must be able to clearly communicate their goals and what they need in order to gain trust from the public and demonstrate transparency.
